Reflection of Napoleon in Czech literature at the beginning of the 20th century

The aim of this thesis is to acquaint the reader with Czech literature dealing with the person of Napoleon Bonaparte from the beginning of the 19th century to the first third of the 20th century. Furthermore, to objectively capture and try to explain the main views of the authors, which were reflected in their literary works. The thesis deals with the reflection of the person of Napoleon Bonaparte in Czech literature and is shaped to outline the development of the reflection of the French emperor from the beginning of the 19th century to the first third of the 20th century. The gradual chronological synthesis emphasizes key authors and their breakthrough literary works. Selected authors active at the beginning of the last century, namely Jan Miloslav Kryštůfek, Josef Svatopluk Machar and František Josef Čečetka, are subjected to key reflection. The analysis of the works with Napoleonic themes by the selected authors is complemented by the historical context of the time and the introduction of other authors who dealt with the same topic. At the beginning of the thesis, the possibilities of approaching a literary work as a source are presented. Luigi Angiolini - Life in Service to Tuscany

This bachelor's thesis presents in a chronological order, the life of a Tuscan aristocrat Luigi Angiolini (1750-1821). He was a writer, traveller and diplomat, active in the period of the Habsburg reforms, the French Revolution, the Napoleonic rule, and the restoration in Italy. Based on the available literature and sources, this thesis maps Angiolini's youth, his journey to England and Scotland, his diplomatic career in Paris in the service of Ferdinand III, Grand Duke of Tuscany, as well as his final years spent in the countryside with his family. Angiolini's varied life and his openness to modern ideas allow for conceiving this protagonist as a typical man of his times, while on the basis of his interests and activities simultaneously elucidating the entire historical period in a wider context.
Louisiana purchase

The main purpose of the thesis is to illustrate a process of gradual development of America's diplomatic relations and skills which consequently led to the Louisiana Purchase. This land acquisition has been effected by a culmination of a series of events on two different continents. Therefore, the Purchase was not an act of signing, but an act which defined the state's existence, recognition, and acceptance by other nations. It is not sufficient to be aware of the events taking place shortly before the Purchase and therefore the paper presents political, diplomatic, industrial, and commercial reasons of England, Spain, and France which gave rise to the United States. The thesis is divided into respective centuries with their most important events and outcomes of the mutual negotiations between the three above mentioned Europeans powers. The moment when the English subjects became independent, later declaration of Independence, and the French Revolution are the examples of important milestones which eventually resulted in the land acquisition. However, it is not correct to think that once the problem of the area is settled, the future steps are a lot easier to take.
